Description/Job Summary

 

 

Position Title:                        Coating Cell Operator

Train on 1st shift (6 am-2 pm) then go to 3rd shift. 10 pm 6 am M-Friday

Purpose:

To describe the various requirements and skill set(s) necessary for fulfill the Coating Cell Operator position.

Definition:

The primary goal of the Coating Cell Operator is to maintain product quality (fit-for-use as specified by ITW Converted Products and the customer) and machinery efficiency during standard operation. The operator is also responsible for supporting any efforts associated with insuring that the machinery is operational and properly maintained.

Areas of responsibility:

Primary:

Clean, set up and operate coater per scheduled sequence, process sheets, work instructions and customer requirement(s)

  1. Conduct / perform qualitative evaluations of strike and end-of-roll samples
  2. Record all necessary process and quality documentation accurately, timely, routinely and as specified
  3. Package all material(s) that do not require further converting / slitting to narrow web format

Secondary:

Formulate and conduct qualitative evaluations of coating(s) / adhesive(s) per formulation and quality criteria

  1. Record all necessary process and quality documentation accurately, timely, routinely and as specified
  2. Minimal forktruck usage required to move rolls to and from Coater and Storage Racks.

Equipment Maintenance:

Conduct standard routine maintenance as required to ensure machinery cleanliness and reliability

  1. Coating Cell Operator is required to, unless otherwise determined by maintenance technician, assist maintenance technician in all repairs necessary due to breakdown or malfunction
  2. Coating Cell Operator is required to assist maintenance technician in the execution of all regularly scheduled Preventive Maintenance requirements.

*In addition, the employee must be willing and able to perform any other work tasks as defined or requested by supervisor or management.

Education and Experience:

Candidate is required to have the following:

High School diploma or equivalent

  • Work experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment similar to the core competencies of ITW Converted Products (Custom laminating, coating, metallizing and converting)  
  • Good mechanical ability and the ability learn and understand coating machinery functions and requirements
  • Possess good judgment and decision making skills
  • Be well organized and possess good verbal and written communication skills
  • Interpret, understand and adhere to customer requirements
  • Able to adapt to challenging and demanding work environment
  • Flexibility and willingness to work in other cells within ITW Converted Products as assigned
  • Forktruck certified or willingness to train to be certified
